WAYNE STATE
UNIVERSITY - SCHOLARS DAY February of 2008
Here's your
chance to receive a Wayne State University
scholarship. Scholars Day is a special occasion
when Wayne State University invites its most
promising first-year applicants and their
parents to visit campus for a day of interviews,
presentations, tours and lunch.
Every students who attends will receive $1,500 a
year for four years and based on interviews and
review of a writing sample along with
grade-point average. Some students will receive
increased scholarship offers, up to and
including four-year full tuition Presidential
Scholarships.
To be considered for an invitation to Scholars
Day you must: be admitted to WSU by Jan. 15,
have your ACT/SAT scores on record with WSU by
Jan. 15 and have a GPA of at least a 3.5 by the
end of your junior year.

Navy ROTC
Scholarship
The Navy ROTC Scholarship
is valued at approximately $180,000 over a
four-year period (tuition, books, plus
instructional and lab fees). There is no
obligation to apply for this scholarship. A
student's commitment to the Navy does not begin
until the beginning of his/her sophomore year in
college. If a student drops out of the program
any time before the end of his/her freshman
year, he/she is not required to pay anything
back. Applicants must complete the online NROTC
Scholarship Application prior to January 15,
2008,

. Minimum scores: SAT Math 520 Verbal 530 or
ACT Math 21 English 22. The NROTC must be
provided with original documentation or SAT/ACT
scores, or scores may be electronically released
directly to the NROTC Scholarship Program. To
do this, indicate 0656 on the SAT or ACT Test
Registration Form. |

AFS Awards for
Excellence Scholarship Program
Want to study
abroad? See your counselor to be nominated for
studies outside of the United States. You must
demonstrate leadership, service to the
community, and academic excellence. AFS awards
full or partial scholarships to students who
will depart on year, semester, or summer
programs departing in summer or fall 2008 or
winter 2009. Submit your nomination as soon as
possible, it must be received by December 4,
2007. For additional information about this

2007 Schubmehl-Prein
Prize for Best Essay on Social Impact of
Computing
The
Schubmehl-Prein Competition is open each year to
high school juniors. The first-place
prize is $1,000, the second-place prize is $500,
and the third-place prize is $250. The
competition is open to high school juniors who
rank in the top one-fifth of the class at their
school. The topic for 2008 competition is -
What should be the ethical and legal
responsibilities of the providers and the users
of resources such as Facebook, YouTube and blogs?

Michigan Competitive
Scholarship Program
The Michigan
Competitive Scholarship Program is determined in
part by the student achieving a qualifying score
on the ACT. Seniors who have not taken the ACT
are advised to do so by December 8, 2007. ACT
routinely sends scores to the Office of
Scholarships and Grants for all Michigan
students. Students Social Security Number is
important identification information and
matching information for the Office of
Scholarships and Grants. |
