CLASS RULES

We expect to see students exhibit respect and responsibility in their actions to all others and themselves. Behaviors expected of students include:

  1. No make-up or other personal or other personal grooming in the classroom or clinical.
  2. No changing in or out of the uniform at the clinical site.
  3. No gum chewing in class or the clinical.
  4. Be in your assigned seat when class begins.
  5. No talking when another has the “floor”. Instead, LISTEN and LEARN!!!
  6. No sleeping or having your head on the desk in clinical or classroom.
  7. Being prepared daily with pens, paper, and pencils.
  8. Wearing the complete uniform at clinical, including clean uniform type shoes.

Consequences for breaking the rules:

  1. Verbal warning.
  2. A phone call home to parent.
  3. A behavior packet requiring parent signature.
  4. A call to school administrator.

**Breaking rules at the clinical setting will automatically be a phone call to the parent and a loss of points for the day.

A break time will be given by the teacher about halfway through the class time with a return to seat time. Bathrooms are available in the hall during this time. If a student needs a bathroom at any other time, permission must be granted by the teacher. Students must report directly to class upon entering the building or be marked tardy.

*****All cell phones, IPODS, etc are to be off and OUT of sight. If not they will be confiscated by the teacher for the class period. They will be returned at the end of class.

In conclusion, let’s all work together to make this a great school year!!!!

Welcome to the Language of Medicine class. This class is offered through the Allied Health Program of the Downriver Career and Technical Consortium. Class meets in the East River Building behind the Grosse Ile Middle School. The class starts promptly at 7:25 am and ends at 8:20 am. The syllabus for the course is attached.

Attendance is necessary to pass the class. This is a college level program and will be conducted as such. The unit tests are announced at the start of each unit. If you are going to miss the test you need to make arrangements with me to take the test. If you are ill on test day the next day you return you will take the test. The worksheets for the unit are given the first day of the unit. They are due on test day. If not turned in and completed points are deducted.

This is a “tech prep class.” Upon completion of the class with a C or better you are eligible to receive articulated credit through Henry Ford Community College, Monroe County Community College, or Wayne County Community College.

The textbooks are great workbook that can be referenced for years when taking medical classes. I encourage each student to purchase the book. The cost is $64. 00. Check or cash is acceptable. Checks made out to Grosse Ile Township Schools please.
