BIOLOGY

(2 semesters, 10th, 11th, or 12th - 9th if exempted from Physical Science)  Biology I is an intensive college-preparatory course that provides the student with a thorough introduction to the Biological Sciences. The topics covered will include cellular biology, cellular metabolism, mitosis, meiosis, genetics, organic evolution, taxonomy, principles of ecology, techniques of microscopy and dissection.  Notation: Ninth grade students taking Biology should be aware that this class is a 10^th grade level, college preparatory course. Ninth grade students will be expected to keep pace with both the material and the other students in the course.
