Discovering the Gods

    This unit is designed to introduce students to important gods and heroes whom they will interact with throughout the semester. Students will be introduced to gods through individual gods projects, literary genre introduction, Greek Mythology history power point and major themes discovery. This unit is completed prior to passing out text books.

            1) Introducing the Gods: Students are assigned a god on the first day of class.
                They will research this god and introduce him/her to the class
                through a speech and original visual aid               

            2) Literary Genre: Lecture, independent reading, and class discussion

            3) Major Themes: Small group and class discussion about 10 literary themes
                prevalent in mythology   

            4) Power point Lecture: Lecture covers vocabulary, brief Greek history, and
                an evolution of the Greek gods.
