Dear Friend of Grosse Ile Township Schools:

As residents of Grosse Ile, the State of Michigan and the United States of America, one of the most valuable assets we enjoy is a free, public education system.  With the rising expectations of our schools, the ability to provide more services to more kids,  a greater knowledge of how people learn, and a rapidly changing world,  public education is the critical foundation for our democracy.

The purpose of this added feature – the Legislative Link – to the Grosse Ile Township Schools’ website is to provide essential information to our constituents so they can continue to support the educational opportunities provided here.  As a district, our role is to advocate for our students.  This means we must supply essential information to help all stakeholders become knowledgeable about their local schools.

Ironically, in the midst of these growing expectations, our resources are becoming scarcer.  Grosse Ile Township Schools has earned an excellent reputation throughout the State.  This reputation is based on high educational standards; a comprehensive curriculum; tremendous co-curricular and extra-curricular offerings for students; an exceptional Graduation Rate and higher education obtainment; extremely low Drop-Out Rate; excellent MEAP scores; caring staff; involved parents; and a generously supportive community.   These and other points of pride, distinguish our school district from others.  However, this excellent school system cannot be taken for granted and we must strive to continue this legacy.  From time to time, we will invite you to help us by getting actively involved in the democratic process – letting your elected officials know your hopes, concerns and suggestions for how your local school district operates and the vital services it offers this community.

As the African proverb states:  “It takes a village to raise a child…”  Therefore, we respectfully request that you become a partner in this never-ending effort to advocate for the students of Grosse Ile.  By doing so, you will be preserving a community asset that has all sorts of dividends for Grosse Ile.  It is my hope that you will take a moment to communicate with your elected officials who have the power to determine crucial issues related to educating the youth of this community.  Your voice matters and it could ensure a more promising future for our students…our families…our Grosse Ile.

Educationally yours –
Dena A. Dardzinski
