A Message from Superintendent Dardzinski:
One of the educational guarantees we face is that there
will never be a shortage of challenges for the Grosse lIe Township
Schools... these will be "opportunities to grow" for us. All of us must
respond to changing circumstances, becoming "better or bitter" as a
result. From financial constraints to the consequences of choices
individuals make, our district must respond to each new challenge that
comes our way. The Grosse lIe Township Schools has worked hard to
develop policies, programs and procedures that will provide direction
and sensible decision-making processes to see us through each new
endeavor. This website offers you access to many of the guideposts we
utilize to move forward. The Grosse lIe Township Schools is committed to
"always getting better" through the process of continuous improvement.
The district's STRATEGIC PLAN is active evidence of this
commitment. Continuous improvement in this school district can only be
accomplished through people working TOGETHER. A wise educator
once said; "Lasting solutions will not be found in a new curriculum,
instructional materials, legislation, funding or technology. Better
schools will emerge from within us, born of our knowledge, our own
strength, and own commitment to work together as community members,
parents, teachers, school employees, and students." (Dr. Martell
Menlove) I could not have said it any better. In this community, we have
a well-documented history of cooperative efforts - parent groups,
booster groups, staff committee work, North Central efforts, curriculum
studies, Grosse lIe Educational Foundation, GIVE, successful bond
issues, Recreation Department, business partnerships, and so much more.
-
Together we have
faced challenges, solved problems, and improved education for the
students of today and into the future. We have gained from these
cooperative accomplishments and are committed to continuing the
work.
-
Together we can
assure that every student is successful - - leaving school with
skills and abilities needed in the future. (This is our mission and
our expectations)
-
Together we can
enhance teaching opportunities through professional development and
developing and keeping the highest quality of teachers and support
staff.
-
Together we can
make schools safe - - allowing students and employees to exert their
best efforts.
-
Together we can
keep open lines of communication - - involving the entire community
in developing our most valuable resource, our children.
-
Together we can
ensure that life-long learning is a reality by striving to make the
Grosse lIe Township Schools a "true community school," providing
opportunities for individuals from birth to their "golden years."
-
Together we can
use community issues/challenges as exercises of learning and
growing.
-
Together we can
have the best education possible - - building our joint history
efficiently using our current assets (present), and maximizing our
collective potential (future).
As we encounter each new opportunity for growth, it is
my desire that each of us will work together to provide the best
educational outcomes we can afford. We will experience limitations and
set backs to our goals. that is to beexpected. But those challenges
should only encourage us to be more resourceful and resilient ... for
the sake oflearning and this community. Together we can provide
quality educational experiences for all children and this community.
This cooperative effort will enhance and allow for other possibilities
to develop - provide unlimited potential for individuals and this
community. As our district mission so succinctly states: " ... to teach
the knowledge, skills and behaviors necessary for every student to lead
a successful life." We are moving in the right direction ... one student
at a time ... one year at a time ... with growth measurable and
celebrated as we go.
