This year our school surpassed their Heart Challenge goal of $10,000. We raised $12,992.15! Ms. Garza promised the students they could duct tape her to the wall if we made our goal...so today we did just that!

Sam Vesperman won the MHSAA Division 2 State pole vault at 15' 1". Kaitlyn Molnar won the MHSAA Division 2 State long jump at 18' 5.75". This is only the third time in more than 75 years that GI have had two different individuals win a State T&F title in the same year. Kaitlyn added a 7th place finish in the 300m hurdles. Remarkably, her jump was into a slight headwind and is the third best overall jump by anyone in the State this year. She broke Stacy Skaisgir (Davis) record of 17' 5" from 1991, multiple times this year, with the best being this last one. Sam set the All-Freshman State of Michigan record last year with his 14' 1" vault. Again this year he has set the all time mark in any competition by any Michigan sophomore. He has accomplished this with limited competitive opportunities. In just two years he has improved upon the old PV record of 13" 3" from 1972. Of course, back then metal crossbars and bags of foam rubber were used!
