Yesterday, DCTC (Downriver Career Technical Consortium) came to Meridian to meet with our 5th graders to introduce them to opportunities for their high school years. The DCTC is a consortium of nine high school districts that collectively share resources and work together to provide Career & Technical Education classes to students in Wayne and Monroe counties. . The DCTC students lead our 5th graders through activities to showcase their programs they offer in Culinary Arts & Hospitality, Education Careers, Health Science and Construction Trades. Students decorated cupcakes, used a drill and tape measure, planned a classroom layout, learned about visual disabilities with simulation goggles and learned about their respiratory system using a 3D model. Thank you to the instructors and students who took time to come and give our students this experience.
